Canon Story: The Resident Patient
Title: Encouragement
Author: Castiron
Rating: G

You, the Strand reader, might think, knowing my past financial difficulties and my admittedly sensitive disposition, that my patron's death would have ruined me.

But that was not the case.

I had saved up some capital; I kept many clients despite the scandal. And when I despaired, I took heart from this: that Dr. Watson had known of my work.

Touching, in a way. I think Dr. Watson would be honored.

That's very touching. Having published at such early age, I hope that despite all difficulties the doctor would face a great career as a specialist.

I think he would have been recognised as a good doctor - he had built the practise up quickly, so I'm sure he would be okay. And that Watson had read and remembered his paper must have given him hope for the future.

You know, I just assumed that he inherited but of course even bank robbers have family, ect.

I like this and I like that he was so heartened by Watson's kind words. A little appreciation goes a very long way!
