A funny thing, depression. One would not think oneself capable of it, until it strikes. And then one wonders how this world keeps continuing, how people live their lives, as if it was the easiest achievement in the world. Until it vanishes into nothingness again.

However, it was certainly not an impractical thought to move in with a medical practitioner.

Author's Notes: "He soon found, as I had expected, that Holmes and he had much in common."
Um. I genuinely did not expect my brain to go in this direction. But, uh, it did.

To have two men’s hands on me at once is an indescribably thrilling sensation. Holmes is precise and devastating as always; Hayter rough but tender as I remembered him to be. I gasp and writhe under their caresses, and they pause and share a wicked smile before redoubling their efforts.

It’s enough to tempt even Holmes to stay in bed.

During the train ride home, I sat quietly, contemplating my companion. He’d proclaimed our country holiday a success and looking at his smiling, happy face, I couldn’t disagree. Yet when my eyes chanced to linger on the livid marks just visible above his collar, I shivered. Was the day coming when I might not be in time to prevent disaster?

Author’s note: Have been a bit sick and distracted lately. However, minor Sherlockian characters need love too, and last week's discussion post reminded me that Wilson does, in fact, have a housemaid/servant as well. I love the thought of that poor minor character having a nice little “vacation” while the men in the household are too busy being respectively frauds/schmucks to notice.

It was so quiet now that Mr. Wilson had joined that League of his and that Spaulding was too busy with his photography to bother about the rest of the house. The men’s neglect had given Ruth more time than ever to mend her own clothes, watch the sunsets from her window and even bake some pies just for herself.
