"Captain Calhoun, a downright pleasure" the stranger replied in a southern twang handing over the envelope.
"Don't call me that. Haven't been on deck in four decades...since the wreck!"
"But I insist," said the stranger with an odd smile. Calhoun then felt the contour of pips in the envelope and a silent shriek began in his heart.

A/N: . Sorry for once again being late but I'm trying to catch up as fast as my suddenly busy schedule will permit. As for the story, I've been fascinated lately with what went on in the Holmes visit to the USA as described in His Last Bow. Perhaps the crew of the Lone Star was not lost after all? Perhaps Holmes used this trip to avenge some old scores?
