Hello, friends! Thanks for joining us! Before we get to this week's intro, I'd like to give a very special thank you to [livejournal.com profile] methylviolet10b for two weeks of splendid modding while I uprooted myself. That was well beyond the call of duty, and helped me immensely. Thank you thank you thank you for all your excellent work! Your discussion questions were outstanding.

Now, let's jump into a Sherlock Holmes story, shall we? For this Sunday's canon reading and writing pleasure, we have Abbey Grange. A case of death by fireplace poker seems open and shut to both Inspector Stanley Hopkins and Sherlock Holmes, but then, if the case really was open and shut, Watson wouldn't have written about it, would he?

We'll be discussing the Granada TV adaptation of The Solitary Cyclist as well on Sunday. You can catch it on YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Video, and DVD.

Here are your completely optional prompts for ABBE. Feel free to use one, both, or neither.

Optional prompt #1: An occasion where Holmes' intervention did more harm than good. He says there were a few.

Optional prompt #2: Let's have a happy ending. Romance, perhaps?

Haven't joined us for 60 for 60 before? We'd love to have you jump in too! Everyone is welcome. You can learn more here (including the schedule), but the basics are easy: read the story, then write a 60 word ficlet inspired by it. That's it! It's fun, it's quick and you'll love reading both the wonderful classic canon and the terrific variety of fic we all come up with. Come have fun with us! Thanks, see you Sunday!

Canon Story: The Missing Three-Quarter
Title: The Drug of Choice
Author: Mary Sutherland
Rating: PG-13 (implicit slash)

Watson still finds my face inscrutable and thus is mercifully unaware of the theme of my brooding. Not the social conventions that deplore the artificial stimulus of cocaine but those that deny me another supposedly unnatural stimulus. As Godfrey Staunton found, any secret love is a painful matter. How much more so when one cannot confide even in one's doctor?
