Mr Sherlock Holmes never considered excelling at chess to be a sign of a scheming mind until the night that I managed to best him.  He was busy, but still took the time to indulge his housebound fellow lodger. As I was ill, I needed to take my time. He prefers a faster game, and has not forgiven me yet.

Up to now all the strangers have been going in and out of the front door.  But today one of them climbed in through a window.  I called the rest of the family and we sat in a row to watch.  When he climbed back out another man grabbed him.  We had hoped for a fight, but were sadly disappointed.
