Mr Sherlock Holmes never considered excelling at chess to be a sign of a scheming mind until the night that I managed to best him. He was busy, but still took the time to indulge his housebound fellow lodger. As I was ill, I needed to take my time. He prefers a faster game, and has not forgiven me yet.

Date: 2013-07-17 12:56 am (UTC)There is such a great little character story here, and so much packed into such a small word count. Holmes plays chess with a convalescent Watson, but manages to get beaten in the process. So he comes up with an excuse: he's used to playing faster. That MUST be the reason. Or it's the reason he's going to give, anyway.
So awesome, and so perfectly in character.
