As soon as they were alone he took her into his arms and held her.

“How did you know?” she asked. “How did you know I didn’t just snap and shoot her?”

“Because I know you,” he said. “And you are as patient as a saint. You would never shoot her. Not when the poison was just starting to work.”

Canon Story: The Problem Of Thor Bridge
Title: Potboiler
Author: [livejournal.com profile] scfrankles
Rating: U/G
Author's Notes: This detail caught my eye. I'm rather intrigued Holmes knows there's a "love romance" in the Family Herald...

“Be mine,” he demanded.

“Forever,” whispered the exotic beauty.

Preposterous, of course. But she smiled as she set the periodical aside—already thinking ahead to future instalments while the gentlemen’s eggs solidified.

Holmes had been just a little wrong in his deductions though. Mrs Handley was no mere romance reader.

She was the one who had cooked up the story.

Author: thesmallhobbit
Rating: G
O/N: We need to thank [livejournal.com profile] fengirl88 for introducing us to the adolescent moorhen and [livejournal.com profile] marysutherland for insisting we listen to her tale.

If it wasn’t bad enough to be expected to assist in bringing up the family’s second brood, this is the second time in a week I have been nearly hit on the head by a revolver.   I do not know what I have done to so upset people; the woman may have been insane, but the man acted quite deliberately.

Summary: Holmes evaluates the appearances.

Author's Notes: 60 words of my own inspired by one of the canon stories.
Disclaimer: I don't own them.

THOR – Appearances
"On -- the -- floor -- of -- her -- wardrobe."

I knew as I said it that this seemingly straightforward case was anything but.

Mr. Bates’ actions revealed a treacherous household.

Mr. Gibson’s words proved that there was at least one villain in this mystery.

Miss Dunbar’s plight roused my sympathy.

But it was a simple scar in the stonework – and Watson’s revolver – that unveiled the truth of the matter.
