“What were those small points?”

“Complaints of vampire bats,” said Holmes.

He smiled at my expression. “In frustration at her husband’s behaviour, Mrs. Dundas had taken to throwing his false teeth at male passers-by every night.”

I frowned. “Her husband’s cruelty was indefensible but that just isn’t cricket.”

“Perhaps not,” said Holmes. “But apparently she had a lovely bowling action.”

It was easy for me to anticipate the use of a disguise, for I have frequently employed them myself; different clothing, altered hair style and changed mannerisms work well when no deception is expected.  Watson, on the other hand, does not use clothing as a disguise, but his very self; the quiet doctor hiding the fierce defender of the vulnerable.
