Title: The Norwood Builder: Moral Support
Author: gardnerhill
Word Count: 60
Rating: G
Warning:  None
Summary: Possibly Watson's most important role in the firm.

***

When my dear detective is in this state no words and no touch will ease him. My heart was heavy for him as much as I felt sympathy for the doomed young Mr. MacFarlane.

I wish I could do more than stand by him, silent, as he rails or sulks or expounds or deduces. But he says it is enough.

Author's Note: I know this topic has been discussed in the last round. But let's mention it again.

“Rabbits, Watson? The bones of two rabbits equal to that of a man?”
I shrugged. “Your theory of a domestic understanding is without a single proof.”
“Indeed, but I  believe that Jonas Oldacre is not the only character in our tale who knows how to patiently plot revenge. Rest in peace, Mister Lexington. Whatever your sins, your account is paid.”

I hope each week you will read Dr. Watson’s delightful narrative and then go on to write a poem related to it in some way. All forms of poetry are permitted, and further down the page there is a selection you might like to consider using over the coming weeks.

There is no poem from Rachel this week but instead, here is a new poetry form to try: line messaging.

Title: Fire!
Author: [livejournal.com profile] scfrankles
Rating: G
Author's Notes: She had been awakened by the alarm of fire.

The whistle sounded.

“Ah! Our regular fire drill,” smiled Holmes. “Shall we..?”

He and Watson made their way downstairs and joined Bessie, Billy and Mrs. Hudson on the pavement.

Watson frowned. “Mrs. Hudson, I appreciate safety is important but is a daily fire drill necessary?”

Mrs. Hudson’s eyes flicked to Holmes for the merest moment.

“Yes, sir. Yes, it is.”

It’s as well Holmes was so intent on his trickery at the close of the case.  He and the policemen were so busy watching the results of the fire he failed to notice Lestrade had tentatively sought to take my hand.  In return I had squeezed his warmly and we had stood at the back of the group holding hands.
