In my time providing modest assistance to my friend, I have seen the dark battlefield that lies behind the civil façade of genteel society.  Few such revelations were as painful to me as the traitorous guilt of Colonel Barclay, who through petty jealousy, destroyed the lives of a noble man, the wife that should have been another’s and his own.
