Title: Hip-Pocket

A/N: Lestrade became my favorite character in chapter 14 of HOUN. Holmes asks him if he has a weapon, and he answers, "As long as I have my trousers I have a hip-pocket, and as long as I have my hip-pocket I have something in it." I promptly fell in love. :) This is my nod to that moment.

I received Mr. Holmes’ wire and sent him a reply before beginning to gather everything I might need. My train ticket, an overnight bag, and of course, the warrant. I pause to collect one last item that I never travel without. Really, I shouldn’t have it, but my mind rests a little easier with that reassuring weight in my hip-pocket.
