On the train to Hampshire, we passed though lovely countryside, with picturesque farmsteads dotting the rolling landscape. Whilst I admired the beauty of it, Holmes took a darker view, talking instead of the cruelties and secret wickedness that might flourish there unchecked.
I could not help but wonder if his words were fancy or if he knew whereof he spoke.

"...what shoulder, & what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?"
I know of several great stories, but seems to me there's lots of room for further development.
