Why?
The roar of the falling water overwhelmed me. In my mind's eye, I could see it so clearly. My beloved Holmes and the professor, struggling at the edge, then falling together over the cliff into the maelstrom below. Why had I turned back and left him?
I could not tell if my face was wet with spray or with tears.
