I am a selfish man and not afraid to admit it, yet I found the comparison to Carruthers so blatant I could not help but offer my assistance with pity. After all, I too longed after someone I could not have. I knew the reassuring power of a simple presence. If that’s selfishness then I grasp it with both hands
