My daughter may be enamoured of Inspector Hopkins, but he was not the only inspector who would visit.  It was noticeable that when Inspector Lestrade came round, Mr Holmes would greet him warmly, but Dr Watson’s face expressed much greater pleasure at his arrival.  They would sit together on the sofa whilst Mr Holmes (and I) would find another occupation.
