3GAB – Textual Analysis

One need only read Watson’s stories to know how much he fails to observe.

Barney clearly had his agent Susan placed in the Maberley household long before Douglas’ death. Why would I leave my client’s defense to another, or walk away from obviously important piles of evidence?

Simple questions like these might have led Watson to uncover the true tale.

I am trying to think of an occasion when Watson's actions and observations were not criticised by Holmes. Few and far between.

Holmes is indeed usually quite severe when it comes to Watson's noticing things. Sometimes too severe.

I do wish Holmes had written his own account of the matter - or at least clued in Watson. Watson's the better writer, after all, but I don't think he had all of the facts for this case.
