I had just stored away the cylinder when Holmes made me reveal my own tattoo – a youthful folly, acquired at Netley before being shipped out to Kabul.

"Any dark secrets in my past?" I couldn't help asking as Holmes observed the letters.

"Merely a temperament," he kissed my elbow with a smile, "that you hide all too well, my friend."

Watson is such a good chap - he could never have any truly deep, dark secrets ^^ I imagine that's why Holmes likes him so much.

No, no dark secrets for John H Watson, at least not in canon. :) And I totally believe this is what makes Watson such a valuable friend for Holmes.

I wish I could claim the elbow kiss for my own idea, but it's from the story. Trevor Sr. had his tattoo "in the bend of the elbow", and I had to take out "the bend of" because of the word count, which left Holmes kissing Watson's elbow. :)

Aw, thank you, my Lord Hellebore. I am not sure these 60 words drabbles can stand on their own without knowing the story. But it is certainly fun to come up with such mini stories after having reading the story.
