Had Holmes not advertised the fact that he had stolen some of the dubious explosives by blowing up part of our ceiling, we could at least have remained in London whilst repairs were made.  In the circumstances, it was considered safer for us to leave the capital, a fact which also took us out of reach of Mrs Hudson’s wrath.

Quite - not a good idea to advertise this particular adventure. Nor possibly some of the words that Mrs Hudson used.

Thank you. Watson wasn't terribly happy about the turn of events either, but didn't feel he could express his true thoughts in writing.

*grins* That sounds exactly like the kind of reason why Holmes and Watson would go to Oxford for a few days. Mrs Hudson, I have no doubt, is a force to be reckoned with. :)
