My apologies for the lateness of this drabble, written for last week's adventure.

Canon Story: The Adventure of the Golden Pince-Nez
Title: The Death of Willoughby Smith

At night, a tempestuous wind blows from Kent into London. Through a crack in the window-frame it crashes into 221b Baker Street. It circles the jar with the preserved red leech; it tears through dusty documents. Words, hidden or plain, mean nothing to it. What it carries smells of blood, of a very young life ended well before its time.

Lovely, atmospheric and melancholy.

Oh, this is so atmospheric. I love the way you've concentrated on the storm and how it brings tidings of the poor young man's killing. (And I love the detail of the red leech in the jar - it isn't only notes from the case Holmes and Watson have kept stored ^^) Willoughby Smith doesn't exactly get forgotten but he does get pushed into the background a little in ACD's story.

(Btw, never worry about having to get the 60 posted on the Sunday itself - whatever's convenient for you ^_^)
