Sherlock60: The Story Continues... with "The Devil's Foot"

This Sunday, 1st June, we'll be posting our 60 word ficlets for The Adventure of the Devil's Foot.

Overworked and neglectful of his health, Holmes has been ordered to take a complete rest. And so we find Holmes and his faithful Watson in Cornwall.

But even here Holmes cannot escape his calling. The vicar and his lodger arrive with terrible news: the lodger's sister has been found apparently terrified to death, his brothers alive but insane. Is this a case of "diabolical intrusions into the affairs of men"? (Minor spoiler: No, it isn't.) All will be revealed on Sunday.

If you haven't tried 60 for 60 before, full information - including our schedule - can be found on our profile. But in essence: you read ACD's story and then you write a 60 word story based on it! You don't have to post a story every week - just join in whenever you feel like it.

We also offer a second challenge: pick a character from ACD’s story and write a clerihew about them. You can choose to write a 60 and a clerihew, or you can do one or the other. Admittedly, in terms of number of words, I wrote most of it but you came up with some insane brilliant ideas and some killer lines. I just ran with them ^_^

We really sparked off each other. I don't think I've written a story with someone else since I was a child, and in fact this felt like that same kind of playfulness. I think our story is far better than anything I've written on my own recently - we should really have another go sometime ^___^
