Canon Story: A Study in Scarlet
Title: Lestrade, Then & Now
Author: thesmallhobbit
Rating: G

When we first met I had described him as rat-faced and it is true that his looks were not those that one might see on a poster at a railway station, but it had not taken me long to find the man beneath the features.  And even now, though time has taken its toll, to me he still has beauty.

Oh, Watson, you old romantic... And I'm sure there are romances that have got off to an even stickier start than comparing the beloved to a rat ^__^

The way you write them, Watson/Lestrade makes (almost) as much sense as Watson/Holmes. "The man beneath the features" is such a lovely way the express what really counts.
