Author's Notes: During the first week or so we had no callers… In the early days of Holmes and Watson’s tenancy, a landlady writes to reassure her aged mother.



Dear Mother,

Please disregard my previous letter and don’t worry. The unholy screaming turned out to be just the tall one playing his violin.

My new tenants have proved to be proper gentlemen. One is a doctor! And the other is so quiet and regular in his habits.

Honestly, I believe they are going to be no trouble at all.

Indeed ^^ Everyone puts such store by first impressions but they can't tell you much. Certainly not those important little things like whether or not your tenant is about to start running a consulting detective business from your premises ^_^

This goes so well with your "Exit of the Gladiators" from last week. :) I love how Mrs Hudson here describes Holmes and Watson as "the tall one" and "a doctor". Proper gentlemen indeed. No trouble at all ... *snickers*

It does fit well, doesn't it? ^^ That's the joy of Sherlock Holmes - he's immortal, so as soon as you have an exit, you can go straight back to an entrance again ^_^

I just sort of take it for granted that Mrs. Hudson puts up with Holmes. But it must have been a bizarre situation for the poor woman - two apparently nice young men take the rooms, and then she never has a quiet moment ever again ^^
