Holmes had a peculiar form of vanity. While he wished for no public recognition and resisted both my chronicling of his genius and acknowledgement from either the police or the crown, he had his small collection of what can only be called trophies upon which I often caught him gazing fondly before shutting the drawer in embarrassment at my discovery.

Oops! Hey, Holmes, maybe you want to try ogling your trophy drawer while Watson's asleep next time? ;) I love his pride about his achievements, but also his embarrassment when he is caught indulging himself with his prizes. Cute and clever!

I don't think it was too small of a moment at all! I think it's a very telling moment about Holmes' character. There's a softer vanity to him than the sharp veneer he shows to the public, and you captured that so well here.
