When I first wrote about Holmes’ death, I did not believe that I could ever feel more sorrow.  And yet, less than a year later, I was to discover how wrong I was.  There will always be a part of me that mourns that second loss, even though I now have someone who holds a similar place in my heart.

Poor, poor Watson - what a lot that man had to go through. I'm glad that (at least in your 'verse ^^) that he eventually got together with someone he loved as much as Mary.
