Moving out had not been my idea. Holmes suggested it.

I would miss our quiet evenings; being close to him. But it was for the best. Holmes might even love me, yet it was not in his nature to give me what I desired.

I took lodgings in Queen Anne Street, as close to Baker Street as I could afford.

It is not exactly a happy state of affairs for Watson right now but Holmes, i think, is right that it's less damaging for their friendship in the long run. And yes, they did live together finally. :)
