Canon Story: Shoscombe Old Place
Title: Mrs Hudson is Not Amused (Again)
Author: thesmallhobbit
Rating: G

Mrs Hudson did not appreciate Holmes’ experiments with different types of glue.  It did not help that when she complained about the fresh marks on the carpet Holmes had tried to explain to her the significant differences between them.  That might have been why she told him to remove the fishing gear before she found an alternate use for it.

Well pointed out; and his offering to explain must indeed have been the final straw.

I hope he did bring her some fresh trout sometime.

A peace-offering?
... Actually ... I think Holmes does this a lot.

I'm rather curious what exactly would Mrs. Hudson do with the fishing gear ...
:D

And here I was imagining something painful involving the hooks. I guess that would be a little extreme for such kindly lady, even as "not amused" as she was. :-p

Little worried how much thought you've given this...

On a less grisly note (not the the gristle isn't highly amusing), those baskets and rods could make excellent kindling. Or perhaps the gear could be traded to a carpet merchant?

Good point! Can't have bloodstains on that poor abused carpet as well. It's suffered enough!

For some reason it was the "(again)" in the title that reduced me to helpless laughter :P

Oh, bless Holmes - thinking that Mrs. Hudson would share his scientific interest in glue ^_^ You'd think he'd have a better sense of self-preservation by this point ^^

Glue? Oh dear. No wonder she was not amused!

Interestingly enough, Holmes's next project was the development of a solvent that could safely remove glue from carpets. Coincidence?

Oh dear. There's no way this is going to end well, is there?

Poor Mrs. Hudson. I'm sure it didn't help when she discovered that the carpet had been glued over the spots where the floor had been damaged.
