OK, I went to Dartmoor and was all set to write something brooding and dark about the sea and the high moor (both of which can be seen from the train as one makes the journey on the south side down to Plymouth). Then I read Chapter 5 and this came out. Sorry :-)

"Remarkable: I have seen lettuces and peaches those exact shades on the barrow of the Spitalfields Strangler."

"Holmes, it is supposed to represent the ephemeral nature of human life, wilting day by day."

"It’s an arrangement of fruit and vegetables, Watson, realistically rendered. Why complicate matters?"

Sherlock Holmes did not know much about art: but he knew what he liked.

Oh, I like this very much, the two of them bickering about art - and the "why complicate matters?" is especially great!
