The Sherlock Holmes’s Test

My propositus gave no indication of being startled by my wild display of excitement. In fact, he greeted me in so cordial a manner, one could have believed us then to be more than acquaintances, let alone complete strangers. After passing the Sherlock Holmes’s test, Watson became not only my cohabitor, but, more importantly, an invaluable colleague and my friend.

Thank you so much for having a go! ^_^ And I love that you've chosen this moment. I've often wondered what was going through Holmes' mind when he first met Watson - was he just glad to have found someone to share the rent with, or was it specifically Watson he felt positive about? And you've answered that question in such an endearing way.

I have a mind to contribute a little something for the whole of round 4, we'll see how it goes.

"Sherlock Holmes's test" jumped off the page during my re-read.
As Watson can't have been the first person to apply as cohabitor or the first one Holmes asked, I can just see Holmes devising a little test to find the right person for Baker Street. And find him he did :)
