Canon Story: The Sign of Four (chap 1-6)
Title: This One
Author: Kestrel337
Rating: G
Warnings: none
Author's Notes: This was actually my first foray into ACD territory...

His attire was plain, and neatly kept. His face was open, and easily read. l, clad in pigeon-grey, felt peacock bright beneath his gaze.

His adventurous tales eased my heart, though not in the manner he intended. Aiming a tiger-cub, indeed!

My face is transparent; the other man nodded knowingly in the moment I resolved upon my course.

This one.

Truly lovely. I am very fond of the Watson and Mary Morstan love story.

(Must say it was the same for me - I hadn't written for the ACD Holmes fandom before starting writing 60s ^^)

I love how observant and intelligent Miss Morstan is here. And the fact you've shown us the moment she realises Watson is the man for her. Watson tells us so much about his own feelings but we don't really know what's going through Miss Morstan's mind.

I like the slightly pragmatic edge to her feelings of love - this isn't a silly, girlish romance. She knows that Watson is a good man who will be a fine husband.

Oooh, I really enjoyed this. We so seldom see things from Mary Morstan's perspective. Well-done.

Made for one another, weren't they!
Thanks, I enjoyed that.

That was just lovely. Beautiful phrases, and a beautiful moment that deserved more of a spotlight than there was room for in the ACD story. Thank you!

I love that you give us Mary's pov of Watson, this is wonderful. And I love that nod to "the other man" who seemed to have realised even before Watson Mary made up her mind.
