The ring was glad to be taken from the dead woman's finger. No ring likes to be buried; gold needs the light to shine. But in that dusty room a continent away, the ring slipped from the hand of its new owner. No ring should bind a woman to a man by force. But no ring should justify murder, either.

What an original viewpoint to use. There's always a kind of poetry to your 60s.

There's such a contradiction there, isn't there? Something so beautiful and shining being used as a dark symbol of possession and then revenge.

Aw, thank you so much. Seriously, the poetry comes from having to cut down the words so extremely to get them down to 60. ;)

In this mystery, the ring is the one important factor. Had Jonathan Hope not lost it, Holmes would have never been able to lure him to 221b Baker Street.
