Canon Story: The Five Orange Pips
Title: Memorable

I had always felt more than friendship for Watson, but it was the business of John Openshaw's untimely end that convinced me to show my colours. I cannot fault Watson for publishing this rather unsuccessful case, even if any of the others would have better satisfied his readership: it was memorable in more ways than are visible on the page.

What a good idea! Thanks for another fine 60.

Though, mind you, I think Holmes rather underestimates the case's interest to others.

I wonder if Watson was aware of this when he published?

I think FIVE is an interesting case for us, if only because of the further insight we get into Holmes' personality. He feels the murder of young Openshaw so intently. You can well believe that emotion spilling over, and Holmes letting out something he had been keeping hidden. And also, the death of one so young might make him think about not wasting any more time.

Btw, would this mean that Watson isn't actually married in your universe? It would explain why he's confused about whether his wife has parents or not ^_^
