Canon Story: The Noble Bachelor
Title: Spring Clean
Author: [livejournal.com profile] scfrankles
Rating: PG
Author's Notes: "By the same brilliant reasoning, every man's body is to be found in the neighbourhood of his wardrobe....”

“Strange case!” laughed Holmes. “The murder victim was incredibly untidy. But after strangling him, the killer put his room in complete order, including folding the body and stowing it in the wardrobe!”

“And the murderer was...” prompted Watson.

“The landlady?” said Mrs. Hudson.

“Yes!” smiled Holmes. “How did you know?”

Mrs. Hudson looked at him. “It seemed the logical answer...”

I love this one. I wonder if Holmes took the hint?

Frankly, the idea of anyone managing to be untidy enough for Holmes to call it incredible...his papers must have been out of order.

Watson gave Mrs Hudson a strange look. "You were very quick to make that deduction," he said.

"Don't think I haven't been tempted," she replied.

LOL! I especially love the part about the body being neatly folded into the wardrobe. This could be one of a series of lurid tales, "When Landladies Go Bad". Holmes had better take care, lest he find himself starring in the next one--in the unaccustomed role as the victim!

The stories could be serialised in The Marylebone Illustrated. I'm sure they would prove popular.
