Title: The Reigate Squires: Wolf
Author: gardnerhill
Word Count: 60
Rating: G
Warning: None.
Summary: It is a pattern with him.

“My dear Watson, please forgive me for alarming you unnecessarily.”

Stony silence.

“It seemed the best way to draw out the Cunninghams.”

Watson glared. “Holmes, have you never heard of the boy who cried wolf?”

“The case-“

“I don’t care! One of these days you’ll die on a case and I’ll spent the next three years assuming that you’re shamming.”

Something tells me it may take a little while for Holmes to take heed...
Nicely done:-)

I'm not sure that's something Holmes ever learned.

What a truly awful reverse Reichenbach that would have been - Holmes actually dying at the Falls, and Watson resolutely waiting for him to turn up again ^^"

I do understand Holmes - he does what he thinks is necessary for his work - but it's dreadfully hard on Watson. It's a wonder that he trusts Holmes at all.

Bravo! I love the ironic last line :)

I often think that someone as brilliant as Holmes must have had the capacity to come up with less hurtful investigative ploys if he had seen a reason to make the effort. If he'd thought emotional well-being (Watson's and even his own) more worth protecting. Stuff like Reigate Squires I can forgive, but Dying Detective and Reichenbach are not only crying wolf, they're crying shames! :)

Good on Watson for taking Holmes to task for his sham! Though Holmes was aware that Waston felt empathy for his supposed "weakness" and he did apologize for that, he does seem to repeatedly miss the larger point!

Chilling last line, considering what will happen!
