Canon Story: His Last Bow
Title: Remembrance 1919
Author: [info]thesmallhobbit
Rating: PG

So many deaths, so many mothers, wives, children bereft.  Holmes said there was an east wind coming, but even he cannot have known how harsh that wind would be.  Yet, I like to think that by catching von Bork we may have saved some lives and prevented the heartache for a few.

Please, forgive the tears of an old soldier.

Ow, that last line. Yes, Holmes' view of the War was far too near Doyle's Boer War- justifying jingoism for comfort.

Ah, so painful and so true in character and history. Very affecting.

Oh, ow. Very effective 60 words, and that last line especially packs a punch.

So beautiful. Doyle lost his son in the war. I wonder if he regretted this story.
