Holmes curled on the sofa until all that was visible of him was dressing-gown. “Since you deny me my syringe…” he mumbled into the cushion.

“Goodness, this Case of the Unsettled Detective is one of my cases!”

He looked over his shoulder as I reached for him.

“Physical, not mental.”

Yeah, I'm not sure what he's remedy was, but he definitely gets his patience exhausted on a regular basis. And if we keep your canon, it was Holmes that got them into the their temporary exile in the first place, so he's probably additionally put out in this instance.

I love the way you've captured their personalities - especially Watson's pawky humour and his amused affection for Holmes, no matter how tiresome the man is being.

Yeah I thought the comment was a bit snappish too (I mean aren't all the cases 'mental' and when have we ever heard of Watson refusing to accompany Holmes just because there wouldn't be chasing villains or fist-cuffs?). And proof (I think you said this somewhere) that he was in the foulest of moods being in exile from Baker Street.

Yup, and I thought the 'mental not physical' bit was particularly snarky so Holmes must have really been sore. At first, I was thinking something sort of naughty coming after this, but my second thought was what if Watson is charged with wrestling (or boxing) him when he's in these moods (practicing his self-defense/pseudo martial arts techniques)? Or like that (the detective escapes me, whose servant is charged with trying to kill him to keep him primed) And then naughty bits, of course, after the tussling.

The 2013 Russian SH films' Watson is definitely there to punch some sense into his feckless flatmate (in EVERY boxing match between these two, Watson clocks Holmes in 3 moves - one of the many reasons I love those films so much).
