LAST - His Last Bow

My eyes blurred when I saw my brother and Doctor Watson enter my office, arm in arm.

Unsurprising.

Convincing Sherlock to take the case was one of the most difficult things I have ever done. The danger of the mission. Tearing him away from his home. Both knowing that even if he survived, I might not live to see it.

Mycroft, yes. I'm excited you thought he had to be involved in this case - that was my theory as well. Your take on this is unexpectedly sad and touching, a bit unusual with Mycroft. Very nice.

Thank you! I agree with you - Sherlock's coming out of retirement in LAST has Mycroft's fingerprints all over it. Whether they're the living man's influence, or just the ghost of knowing what Mycroft would have wanted and expected is of course up to the reader.

Logically and chronologically speaking, by LAST, Mycroft had to be near the end of his life, if not dead already. I couldn't help but let that melancholy thought color this story, I guess.
