“Your latest drivel. Really, Watson, as if you weren’t by my side when her Majesty gave me that tie-pin! And this, ‘I saw something in his eyes which was nearer to tenderness than I had ever seen’! In that horrid Italian place?! Your florid verse hides more than the yellow fog.”

“Secret histories, my dear Holmes.”

The yellow fog sounds, frankly, sort of awful--especially the oily part. Ew. One of those lovely characteristics of Victorian London, I guess.
