Canon Story: The Disappearance of Lady Frances Carfax

Author's Notes: "I don't admit that a fresh illustration is an explanation..."

“He’s had another go!” Watson handed over the sheet of paper. “Sorry, Mrs. Hudson. Ever since Holmes developed laryngitis, he’s become wedded to the idea that drawing his wishes is easier than writing them.”

Mrs. Hudson tilted the sketch. “So. For dinner he wants... is that a harpsichord?”

Watson shrugged. “The art in Mr. Holmes’ blood takes very strange forms.”

So when Watson lists Holmes's skills in A Study in Scarlet, he should say, Artistic Renderings of Still Life: Nil.

Oh, and I thought of you this week because my supermarket (with the tiny 2 shelves of British foods) has, in its infinite wisdom, seen fit to discontinue the very tasty HobNobs, but I can still buy a can of dust-covered British processed peas. I guess the Brits in exile around here really miss those pea sandwiches. Yeesh!

Why anyone would want to eat processed peas is beyond me - although Frankles might like mushy peas with her fish and chips - let alone export them.

I know! And I like HobNobs so much! They were my ficcing fuel. I don't know why you would sacrifice those and kept something that CANNOT be a delicacy.

I love that shelf, though. Every week, I pass by and snicker at the Spotted Dick in a can. It's also gathering dust :(

It was to take it (the dusty can of spotted dick) and give it a good home. I want to pet it lovingly. Every week I want to do something horribly adolescent boyish to it. It's precious!

It's best covered in lots of thick yellow custard. (If in doubt google Bird's custard and find the images of a yellow substance in a jug)

Sounds awful. Can't I just put a daily on it and giggle?

I apologise for the inference of you eating fish!

And I presume you googled Spotted Dick for purchase purposes rather than identity purposes?

Similar principle only using dried fruit scattered throughout (hence the spots) rather than jam on top.

And according to Wikipedia this is a popular British pudding - somehow I doubt that.

Of course, it became even worse when Holmes decided to progress to charades.

Thank you! And that is a good idea. There should be more about how the art in Holmes' blood shows.
