“I should do so,” Sherlock Holmes remarked impatiently. Then froze.

I met his eyes coolly, and waited until his look of chagrin was replaced with a smile and then a guffaw, which I joined. I accepted the apology his eyes made that his words did not.

“Watch your own predictability,” I warned.

If this is the Russian 2013 series Watson, Holmes will have his ass handed to him (Watson repeatedly coldcocks Holmes in every boxing match in those films).

That's such a lovely moment between the two of them - Watson being one step ahead of Holmes for once. And as well as teaching him a lesson, being able to bring him out of his mood. Dr. Watson, you're a fine, fine man ^^

This was a play on Holmes' snotty remark to Watson that opens this story (when Watson starts to say "I am inclined to think -" and Holmes interrupts him to snap "I should do so").

I guessed that this wouldn't have been the first time Holmes has done this to Watson, so I had him slip in the word "strike" - and Holmes' interruption means he's just given Watson permission to hit him!
