Canon Story: The Valley of Fear

I have discovered if we are forced to share a double bed in a country inn I must be first into bed.  I have learnt to fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow, but it does require me to have a pillow for my head to hit.  If Holmes gets there first he will appropriate them all.

Of course, even if Holmes doesn't sleep, he pinches all the pillows and cushions so he can sit on the floor... What that man needs is a portable beanbag.

We understand Holmes at one point had one, but he used it as a temporary boat on a moat - very temporary, it sank almost immediately.
