So we shall assume there wasn't much ukulele-playing in hospital, or during the first months of lodging with Holmes? Tis a shame; music is so good for lifting the spirits, which in turn aids recovery.

I think Watson's general poor health and gloominess about his prospects post-war would have put strumming out of his mind, temporarily. But he's lute-lover by nature, so Holmes is now going to demand a private recital and Watson'll get to show off his musicality. And then they'll make beautiful melodies together :)

HA-HA! I knew my dirty-minded partner in crime would see beneath the doilies and not be too polite to say something. Yes, skin-flute was what I had in mind :) but to each their own interpretation.
