Author’s note: Playing catch up, for the first time. I’ve had a surprisingly hard time finding h/c fic dealing with Holmes’ drug use, and was surprised that wasn’t picked up more for this story. So much scope for fun pathos...


I had no wish to recall, let alone say more of, the ordeals into which Holmes would plunge us when he succumbed to his vice - his terrible lethargy, exacerbated rather than improved by his indulgence, the bitterness to which he fell prey, my own fears. I have no wish to see either of us returned to such a position.

as for Holmes' drug use, that exists much more in the public consciousness than in the canon (at least directly).
