"Have you had enough?"

Joseph scowled miserably on the floor. He glared through one eye and held his palm tight over the other. Just as well, as it was swollen shut.

"I take your lack of response as a no."

The shadow of the walking stick passing over him got his attention.

"No, stop! It's yours!"

"Yes, it is."

I just adore the dry, understated way Holmes describes things like that. It was a knife fight, and he says "he listened to reason"! It's fun to play with that a bit.

I know -- Watson would have loved that. Although, he's a good fighter on his own. With the two of them, Joseph wouldn't have stood a chance! Of course, he didn't stand a chance with just Holmes either.
