I really like that - another subtle message being underneath the first. It's such a clever thought of yours, and it's such a moving idea that Holmes was desperately thinking ahead, trying to keep Watson safe even after he'd gone.

A soldier knows the meaning of being responsible for someone else - I can see Holmes deliberately referencing Mary to remind Watson of his duty.
