They missed Wagner’s second act in Covent Garden, but Holmes, unusually, seemed sanguine about the loss.  He’d been working on a series of individual words printed on paper in violet and coquelicot hues, torn off against the side of a ruler.

Unfortunately, Watson wandered in before Holmes had finished his arrangement.

Coqulicot (which I suppose I must go back and spell correctly now) is a Jane Austen word. Apparently, it became fashionable in Catherine Morland's time.

Actually, I am not in Virginia but New York. There's something amiss with the locator.... but I was hoping to get down there next month.

And I had thought I'd never come across the word 'coquelicot' before. But I've just read your comment to Okapi, and realised I must have. At school I read Northanger Abbey many, many times over the course of two years ^^ (Not for fun, I must point out... ^^")
