Canon Story: The Blanched Soldier

Author’s Note: An idea for an AU to fulfill my ‘Suspense’ Bingo square. If you have tips/advice/suggestions about writing suspenseful scenes/stories (or things that you think work well from a reader’s viewpoint), feel free to leave them in the comments. I can use all the help I can get.

“…deserted me for a wife…”
Anything to silence that editor, damn fool, clamouring for what Watson’d promised.
But my scribbling’s a welcome distraction from the ticking clock: on Saturday the person I know as John Watson, but whom the press, police give another name, swings from a hangman’s noose for the crime of believing a wife’s, not his, flattery.
Unless…

Very definitely suspenseful ^^" Thank heavens for that 'unless' though. (I'm rather tickled btw that you, me and Small Hobbit all have titles beginning with 'Un-' this week ^^)

Thanks! I've been reading internet articles (10 things to remember, 6 steps, etc.) but it's sort of a nebulous concept to get your mind around. Yes, great minds thinking alike.

I suppose that means the suspense is working. I am thinking of a Strangers on a Train scenario, where Watson gets unknowingly embroiled in a wife's plot to do away with her husband. But I've only got 60 words so far :/
