I got John out the door by confirming his wishes on the matter in seconds; he was off to Mr. Holmes for a few days.

I was on the ‘phone before the hansom was out of earshot. “Darling, he’s gone. I’ll be there in the hour. You’re at the same hotel? Splendid.”

And soon I was listening to Emmeline Pankhurst.

I can well imagine Mary having a larger life than the shadowy, stay-at-home Mrs. Watson - taking an interest in women's suffrage and the wider world in general.

What a fortuitous coincidence that BOSC takes place in 1889 (Baring-Gould) - the same year Ms. Pankhurst founded her suffrage league!

I'd love to see Watson come home from helping Holmes solve one crime - only to have to bail a grinning, unrepentant Mary out of prison for breaking windows or creating a public disturbance with other suffragists while he was away.
