Canon Story: The Dying Detective
Title: Veiled
Author: Mafief
Rating: G
Warnings: none
Author’s Notes: In the US, PBS Masterpiece Mystery has red letters in their credits that spell out a word that relates to that episode. If I did it right, the bolded letters should be in order and another five-word story should be revealed.

I should remark on the qualities that make Watson an ideal helpmate. Along with his many, albeit understated, virtues are his loyalty and willingness to accept my commands, no matter how insane they appear, and obey completely. If his instincts are agitated and he declines, it is fortunate I know him well and can coax acceptance with an alternative strategy.

Sadly the knowledge didn't seem to improve matters much.

Though I believe Holmes' plan came out of noble intentions, I don't think he understood how much he was going to hurt Watson - and Mrs. Hudson too. Using Watson in that way wasn't truly his decision to make, even if it did lead to a murderer being arrested. Your five word story really is the heart of the matter.

Yes, that sentence was rather awkwardly put ^^"

What I was trying to say was that Holmes didn't have the right to manipulate Watson, even though his intentions were ultimately noble. The end didn't justify the means.
