“That… That Mr Holmes.”

“What’s he done this time?”

“Freed an innocent man by conjuring the correct criminal out of almost thin air.”

“And your upset over that?”

“I was the one who was duped! I arrested the wrong man and could’ve gotten him hanged. If he hadn’t…”

“But he did, love.”

I really like the fact that you have Lestrade here not feeling embarrassed and humiliated by Holmes' trick, but being angry at himself about bring taken in by Oldacre's trick. He puts young McFarlane's life well over any hurt feelings.

Lestrade is a bit pompous at times but he's a good man. And always willing to learn from Holmes.
