He turned to face us, arrow in fist; his expressionless ice-blue eyes were one of the most terrifying things I'd ever seen.

Holmes smiled. "See if you can paralyse this doggie, Jacky-lad." He released the lead.

And the Giant Rat of Sumatra rushed into the nursery.

If you're going to introduce an enigmatic monster in a story with "vampire" in the title it's not MY fault if I put them together, that's all I'm saying.
